Introduction
The Bournemouth & Poole Fuchsia Society Web site was initially
developed in November 1996. It is believed that the Bournemouth & Poole Fuchsia
Society was one of the first UK based regional societies to go on-line. Since then
the site has been revised several times and in November 1997 it was redesigned. It
stayed in that form until July 2000 when it was redesigned and a further re-design in 2004
to its present form. Also in June 2000, the domain name bpfs.org.uk was
registered and the site posted to this URL during the month.
The site is maintained by Jon, who does all the work in his free time. Most of the
pictures posted on the site are taken by him and all of the other material is authored by
the societys membership. The site is updated monthly, normally during the last
weekend of the month. However, due to technical reasons, the new site content might
not be visible until the following working day. The site content is provided free of
charge on the Internet.
Contributing
If anyone would like to contribute to the site, even if you are not a member, please
email us and we will consider your contribution - providing it it Fuchsia
related. You can also ask us questions, and although we might not be able to offer a
quick answer we will do our best to provide you with a reasonable response. Any
questions we have been asked in the past will be posted in our FAQ, so that is the first port of call.
Technical
The site is tested using a 800x600 display with 65000 (High) colours, and this is the
advised minimum specification for the display you use. As a result you should be
able to see the whole site on a larger resolution monitor. It is unavoidable that
some pages will not fit onto this minimum size screen, but you can always use the scroll
bars to see the whole thing and where possible by scrolling the page all the way to the
right you will see the full content. The advised browser is Internet Explorer 5 and
above, or Netscape 4 and above, although most pages will display on earlier versions, some
effects will not be rendered properly.
Conclusion
We all hope that you enjoy browsing our Web site, and if you are in the Bournemouth
& Poole area on the second Thursday of the month, you will always be welcome to join
one of our monthly meetings.
