Hi my name is Laetitia van Wyk and I am the secretary/treasures of our fuchsia club. We
are in Benoni which is about 35km from Johannesburg, South Africa. We started our club
about three years ago with about 10 people. Today our club has grown to ove 50 people. We
had our second annual show on the 8th & 9th of December 2001. It was a great
successes. One of our judges was George Puddefoot of England (maybe you know him).
I really like your WebPages. It is very professional and looks great. I regularly visit
it to get some pictures of flowers or just to see how other clubs run their business. You
can be proud of your achievement.

I have recently been connected to the Internet and was delighted to find the
Bournemouth and Poole Fuchsia Society web site. I holiday every year in Bournemouth and
have many friends in your society and have even attended one of your meetings. I come from
Inverness and we have L#### S####### as a judge at our show this year. I am a very good
friend of ##### and D#### L#####. We had a very successful first show last year and it was
mostly due to D#### who gave us a talk before it and encouraged our members to show. D####
was a very good ambassador for your society and you should all be proud of him and tell
him we were all delighted that he got on to the BFS committee. He should really shake them
up with D# B### there also. I will close for now if you would like an article for your
newsletter or web site anytime just let me know.

Hello,
Just wanted you to know my URL. I have probably just a small collection, but I couldn't
cope with too many more although the odd one sneeks in without hubby knowing!! I'll add a
link to your page from mine as well. Signing off, look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hello,
I was delighted to come across the Bournemouth Fuchsia Society. web page. I found it
when looking at the page of the Swedish Fuchsia Society. I have recently started a page
for the Metropolitan Essex Fuchsia Society, and am gradually improving it as my HTML
expertise improves. I shall include a link to your page at the next up-date.( I have made
an entry in the reference section of your page). Do you know if any other local fuchsia
societies in the UK have web pages? I think it would be an excellent way of keeping in
touch with other societies to exchange news, views etc. I have written to the BFS to
suggest some initiative on their part.
I hope we can keep in touch. Meanwhile, best wishes from the MEFS to you and all your
members.
Hi,
I am a commercial greenhouse and I am a member at large of the Pacific Northwest

Hi Jon, Thanks for your comments about my site! I 've changed 'Pool' into 'Poole' now.
If you have more comments or suggestions, please let me know.
I find the Bournemouth and Poole Fuchsia Society Web site also very interesting.
Certainly one of the most interesting Fuchsia Society Web sites!
I suggest that you add links to the contents in the newsletters leading to the articles
further down on the page. I see also ### instead of names and times. Is that as it should
be?
From the webmaster
Regarding the ###'d out names - this is a requirement placed on me by the clubs committee
to prevent unsolicited contact with members. Any email received will be passed on to the
club membership via the newsletters, and if they want to reply then they have that option.

Very impressed with the new Web site and looking forward to using it. I have
attached an article I wrote on watering for you to use if you wish. If you don't want it
just bin it. It may be too big for your newsletter but if not please put it in.

Congratulations, just found you. So much information about you and your annual show.
Need more time to digest the activities etc.
We, the Reigate & District Fuchsia Society enjoyed, a very successful show on the
same day as yourselves. I am a very keen shower and have supported our show's for about 23
years having been show secretary for about twelve of them; just resigned from this
position and this year it was a treat to relinquish the responsibility and concentrate on
my show plants, about 15 classes entered, took 2 firsts 3 seconds and the rest we don't
talk about.
Anyway, best wishes to all your members and may we all look forward to next year and
the many activities planned. Best wishes.

I was so pleased to stumble onto your web page. I have always
admired Fuchsia's but had no idea just how many varieties there are. I have looked
all over for any societies in South Africa, but have not found any on the net. Does
anyone know whom I could contact. Most of the advice that I have read seems to
concentrate on protecting the plants during the cold winter months which we here don't
have.
In the last three weeks I have acquired 27 different varieties and just
don't seem to be able to stop myself each time I visit the local nurseries.

I visited your informative site today and would like to exchange links with you I am
keen garden enthusiast whose passion has spilled onto the net I have a Software Company
called Software Technics and sub-let space on my web site to Specialist Nurseries. I have
my own personal site which contains all sorts of garden info and I link the two sites
together to form a larger "single" site
My personal passion is fuchsias, primarily standards all of which are currently locked
up tight in their greenhouse now with their Paraffin heaters waiting for spring again. I
have a new site sponsor called Exotic Fuchsias who use the space to have their catalogue
with about 100 pictures of their fuchsias and descriptions of the rest. They will be
providing a cultivation guide and I am linked to other Fuchsia enthusiasts whose fuchsia
tips and comments are excellent. We get about 40-60 visitors to our pages every day and I
would like to exchange links with you as your site has good content and is directly
related to our site. I particularly like your member articles.

gives an outline of our society, What's on and Fuchsia Tips. Would you like to give us a
mention on your Other Web Sites page? I intend to have a links page but haven't done it
yet. Do I have to have your permission to enter yours or other sites in a page?

Just to inform you that the Wagtail Book of Fuchsias are
available through me as U.K. distributor. Also the Supplements Vols. One Two & Three
have been reprinted and now available. numbers limited though. The Publishers are Wagtail
Publication Ltd. The wagtail books are available apart from volume 4. Hopefully
the sales of the supplements three volumes in all, will pay towards the reprint of Volume
4. The above will be available at the BFS AGM 28th / 29th March 1998.
I am busy preparing my own web site. My own society, of
which I am chairman, has allowed the society treasurer and myself to put together a
society web page for the net.
From the webmaster
I advise anyone interested in acquiring these books to contact the publishers in their own
country. Keith is the UK distributor, and I will pass on any email requests I receive from
UK correspondents. |

Hello, Derek Luther kindly gave me the address of your site. As very much both an
amateur Fuchsia enthusiast and an amateur web site developer (I am currently working on
getting something up and running), I cannot but be very impressed with both the
presentation and content of your Society's site. It will clearly be some years before I
can consider myself at all knowledgeable on either front! Thanks for setting the standard.

Just discovered your web site, very interesting, keep it up. If I may be so bold as to
suggest that we could see some pictures of the winning cultivars with their names and
perhaps some comments from the grower? Wishing you a flourishing membership and continued

I have just visited your web site for the first time and would like to tell you how
impressed I am at the lay-out and the content of the site. As someone who has been given
the task of producing a web site for our local group, I can only think that your site was
created by someone with great technical knowledge. Our site is still under
construction, and I look forward to the time when our members have provided me with half
the content that you have used for your site. You can be sure that I will visit on
many occassions for ideas and inspiration and will certainly create a link so that
other members can do the same.

I was delighted when I found your Web site. More then 20 years ago, I
stayed for about two weeks in Poole. I had a great time in your town. Your Web site brings
to mind many happy memories with my host family and many other kind people I met there.
And what's more. I'm growing Fuchsia now. It's challenging to grow this
attractive plant in Osaka, Japan, where summer temperature reaches 35 degrees or higher.
However, if I exercise several growing tips, it survives the harsh season and rewards me
with bright flower chandeliers throughout autumn and well into January. My husband likes
the plant very much, too.
I would like to learn more about this lovely plant. To do so, and to
recall my pleasant memories, may I visit your Web site once in a while?

Greetings. I have just found your webpage. Great
stuff!! Will try and make your show at the end of July. I think I went to a
bpfs July show some years ago. In fact, thinking about it, it must have been at least 20
yrs ago!! It was held in the church hall in Parkstone and I had trouble finding somewhere
to park my motor cycle. Well, the bikes gone now but the love of fuchsias hasn't.

I was delighted to find your site. I did join your B&P
Society several years ago. I hope to come along as a visitor to the meeting this month and
also attend the show in a couple of weeks. As a computer 'nerd' I am most impressed by the
professionalism of your site - easier to move round than some produced by the IBMs of life
( more fun and prettier too !)
